Here are a few things smart boaters usually start thinking about this time of year:

🔧 1. Spring Commissioning

Before launch, it’s good to check the essentials:

  • Engine oil and filters

  • Battery charge and connections

  • Fuel lines and tank condition

  • Bilge pump operation

  • Cooling system / impeller

  • Propeller and lower unit

If you winterized properly in the fall, spring startup is much smoother.

🧽 2. Hull & Exterior

  • Wash and apply fresh wax for protection and speed.

  • Inspect for gelcoat cracks or blisters.

  • Clean scum lines from last season.

⚓ 3. Safety Gear Check

This is a big one people skip.

  • Life jackets (correct sizes and condition)

  • Fire extinguishers (check expiration)

  • Flares or signaling devices

  • First aid kit
